ransom

there is mourning at the wisner house.

today, we lost the pink bear blankie.

i know. i can't believe it either. i won't even go into the scene of goo going to sleep tonight. let's just say there was much. crying. loud, pitiful crying.

big h, goo, and i played with some of our favorite friends today at the local mall. we had a wonderful time but probably stayed a little too long. we parted ways. goo fell asleep in her stroller. that has never happened. we went to the car. i put big h in his car seat. getting ready to put goo in hers. knowing she would drift right back to sleep. wait. oh no. seriously, where is the candid camera? this isn't funny. not on the ground. not in her stroller. nowhere in sight. i drive around the parking lot in disbelief. and do the only thing i can do as goo's mommy. get both kids back out of the car and head back into the mall. three o'clock and goo without a nap at this point. we retraced our steps. three times. finally, i broke out in tears. for my goo. i called buz and let him know of the catastrophe. i called the concierge two or twenty-six times. she contacted housekeeping and lost and found. nothing. finally after about an hour or so, i felt like i needed to get them home. but i felt like i was going to betray her if i didn't keep looking. when buz got off work, he headed straight to the mall and looked. for two hours.

i'd like to say that this story has a good ending. but it doesn't. lillian vernon no longer makes pink bear blankie, even though they have it right there on their website.

so this is a reward note: for those patrons who were at the mall today, those housekeeping employees, for those mall employees. please contact me with information re: the pink blankie. there is a 16-month-old girl who is really sad without it. we will pay lots of money. or well, you could just see her face when you give it to her. that will be plenty. i promise.

Target has something really similar right now in the baby area ... do you think you could trick her into thinking that's it?

Oh, I am in absolute mourning & tears for the Goo and her Mama!!!! I feel completely responsible for this horrible situation since I gave goo her bear blanket not really knowing how much she would love it...as well as not knowing that stupid lillian vernon would discontinue it??? I think I am banning them from now on....I will however be dilligently searching for something similar for sweet Goo! Hang in there, and hopefully in the meantime she'll find something else to cling too...

Tears,

Marino

This is tragic...I know it just happened to us last week!

6 years I have been keeping up with a blankie, first with my son and now with my daughter.

I honestly was more upset than AJ. Luckily we found an almost identical one and were able to go on with our trip.

I must add that it was always a fear of losing one, so once each child found their favorite we bought 2. If only I had had the back up on the trip with us!

Good luck with the transition, AJ seemed pleased with picking out a replacement herself, maybe that will work for you.

POOR POOR GOO! And POOR POOR YOU! I am so sorry. Only a Mommy can know the true seriousness of this situation. I hope you find a suitable replacement and soon!

I just noticed on the website the it says that it is out of stock or no longer available? Have you called, maybe it is just out of stock because of Christmas??

I am a big fan of your blog (and your awesome family). Anyway, I was searching on the web and found this site that had bears:
www.boydsbears.com - they have a pink teddy bear. I hope this helps.

Oh man...I feel for y'all! As someone who gets sentimentally attached to everything, I can say I feel your pain.

Oh, NO. No, no, nonononono.

Poor Goo. Poor you! Have no helpful advice whatsoever, just fervent prayers that pink bear blankie, or a thoroughly acceptable substitute, will surface posthaste.

I came across your blog entry for your daughter's lost pink bear blamkie as I have been desparately searching for the little sidekick bear that came with it! My daughter is almost five and we just lost it on a trip to see the grandparents. 5 years and a gazilion moves with the bears (aka little and big booboo) and mommy (me) didn't do a good check on the airplane..I feel horrible. All this to ask...did you ever manage to find the company that made the bear? I realize that you all lost your bear quite a few years ago but thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks!
